Service Standards - Property Services

Property Services aims to help Shrewsbury and its residents:

• We will ensure utilisation and preservation of Shrewsbury’s rich building heritage
• We will protect the legacy of the past for the benefit of the future
• We will provide access to Council owned buildings for social, economic and cultural purposes
• We will advise and guide the Council on the use and procurement of sustainable materials, energy saving options, cost effectiveness and value for money.

Property Services aims to do this because:

• We are custodians of historical and council owned functional buildings
• We have specialist knowledge to ensure the use of buildings in a sustainable manner
• We monitor and minimise waste consumption
• We contribute to the promotion of the historical identity of Shrewsbury as a main tourist attraction
• We also act as a champion for Shrewsbury’s historical assets and is prepared to be controversial with consultants especially when their special character are at risk or compromised
• We enhance the cultural and economic profile of Shrewsbury

Property Services achieve our aims by:

• Provision of sound practices in property usage
• Developing innovative usage of Computer Aided Design and ICT in planning and maintenance of properties
• Working with partners within SABC and externally, utilising design and consultancy expertise
• Developing a complete and up-to-date asset register
• Recognising and developing a multi-functional team with increasing IT and electrical specialisms
