The Guildhall - Fire Protection and Prevention

What to do if you discover a fire at the Guildhall

  • Raise the alarm - use the nearest alarm point
  • Leave the building via the nearest available exit
  • Assemble with your section at the designated assembly point.

Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Following the introduction of this legislation from the 1st October 2006 the Council is required to produce a risk assessment for Fire Risk at its Builidngs.  This is a link to the Fire Risk Assessment for the Guildhall.

The Responsible Person under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 is Andy Goldsmith, Assistant Council Manager (Town Clerk) .

Fire Evacuation Drills

As part of the Fire Risk Assessment for the Guildhall Fire Evacuation Drills are carried out on a regular basis.  This is a link to the records relating to these drills and reports/recommendations resulting from them. 

Regular inspection of the Building are carried out by the Means of Escape Officer and Competent Person under RRO on a regular basis.  Items arising from this are reported to CMT on a quarterly basis.

Fire Wardens at The Guildhall

Each section has designated Fire Wardens. 

Please make sure you know who the Fire Wardens for your section are.

Fire Evacuation - Training and Visitors

If you have a visitor you are responsible for ensuring that they are safely evacuated from the building, and accounted for, in case of emergency.  Please ensure that any visitors brought into the non public areas have been signed in at the main reception.

If you are organising training at the Guildhall please ensure that the guidance relating to emergency evacuations is passed to the trainer.
