Project and Programme Management at Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council – Managing our Major Corporate Capital and Revenue Project's Programme
Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council determined the need to devise and implement a project management system using the Prince 2 project management methodology principles in the autumn of 2002.
This was a response to Senior Officers and Councillors observation of the need for the Council to have systems in order to ensure the efficient running of the large number of Big Issue Capital Projects that the Council has initiated.
Also the development of a project management system was an element of our European Foundation for Quality Management Business Self Assessment Action Plan derived from the assessment done as part of the West Midlands LGA Peer Group Assessment Scheme in 2001/2002.
Our Chief Executive and the Project Manager for the Single Office Accommodation Project, commenced drafting the system ready for Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council to use from September 2002 onwards. The system was applied to our Single Office Accommodation Project and has been or is in the process of being applied to various major projects within the Council.

The Town Centre Land Project
