2.0 Site Details
2.1 Site Description
The site is flat and industrial in character. It is partly overgrown, with a number of redundant railway structures and abandoned vehicles in evidence. A small number of the existing sidings are used by EWS, generally for overnight storage of rolling stock.
Close to Ellesmere Road the land slopes down steeply to a row of terraced houses (See Plan 3). Further to the north it slopes down to farmland. These slopes are covered with self seeded trees. The operational railway line to the west is at a similar level to the site, as is the land close to the Ellesmere Road bridge.
However there is a steep escarpment immediately to the west of the railway.
The site is linked to the Rail Property Limited land via two redundant arches, under the Ellesmere Road bridge.
2.2 Access
The existing vehicle access point is off the west side of the A528, Ellesmere Road, close to the bridge (See Plan 2).
