2.0 Site Details
2.1 Site Description
The site is flat and industrial in character. Overhead electrical transmission lines run across the southern part of the site to a substation on Spring Gardens.
The land owned by BT and MEB (see Plan 2) comprises a mixture of open parking areas, vehicle depots, industrial and office buildings. Both companies are progressing rationalisation programmes and the entire site could shortly has become surplus to requirements.
The land owned by F H Burgess (see Plan 2) comprises three parts:
i. depot at rear - nearly 0.5 hectare(1 acre)
ii. agricultural engineering buildings fronting Spring Gardens
iii. lease car sales site fronting onto Spring Gardens
- Sites ii and iii total approximately 0.8 hectares (2 acres)
2.2 Access
The existing access points are from Spring Gardens. The main access is owned by BT and serves BT, MEB and F H Burgess. MEB operate a one way system around its site using a separate access onto Spring Gardens. The car sales area and F H Burgess also have separate accesses onto Spring Gardens. (See Plan 2)
