Frequently Asked Questions

Is your Local Plan available for purchase and if so how much is a copy?

The Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Local Plan 2001 (written statement and proposals maps) costs £33 (plus £7 postage and packaging), and can be purchased from the Guildhall reception, or by sending a cheque made payable to S.A.B.C. in advance to Planning Services, The Guildhall.

Proposals Maps (Town Centre Inset/ Urban Area Map and Borough Wide/ Village Inset Map) can also be purchased separately for the following costs:

  • £5.50 inclusive of postage and packaging for one map
  • £11 inclusive of postage and packaging for the set of two maps.

The Local Plan may be accessed in the Local Plan section. Copies may also be viewed in the Guildhall reception area.

Are you in the process of reviewing your Local Plan?

Yes - a Local Development Framework is under preparation, and should be in place by 2011.  Information on the progress of this review process is available in the Local Development Framework section.

What will happen to site representations already made for the Shrewsbury and Atcham LDF?

Representations received since 2003 will be rolled forward into work on the Unitary Council's LDF.  It will not be necessary for landowners, developers and their agents to re-submit them.

Can I obtain a copy of an Ordnance Survey map extract for a particular area?

Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council has become a satellite Mapping and Data Centre for the Ordnance Survey.

For a charge, Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council can now supply maps for any reason and not just for submitting formal Planning and Building Control applications like in the past. These are available at a scale of 1:500, 1:1250 and 1:2500. More information is available from SABC Mapping Services. Maps can now be purchased for any area of the country, not just for the Borough.

An interactive mapping facility is available on the Council's website allowing you to view maps and geographical information. Single copies of maps may be printed for personal use, but these may not be used as part of official submissions or applications e.g planning applications, to the Council or other bodies.

Can I obtain a plan from the Planning Services Department that shows the ownership boundary of my property?

No, this information should be obtained from the deeds to your property or may be obtained from the Land Registry.
