Domestic Wind Turbines

Planning permission may be required to erect a wind turbine at a dwelling house, you should check with us by completing a 'Do I Need Planning Permission?' Form.  You will need to show the exact location of the proposal and submit relevant information relating to the potential noise and disturbance impact of the structure.

Wind turbines placed higher than the ridge of the roof or on an elevation of a dwelling fronting a highway will generally require planning permission. Permission would be required for wind turbines placed anywhere on the roof where the house is within a conservation area and listed building consent would be required in all cases for the erection of a wind turbine on a listed building.
