Highway Improvements
As part of the Shrewsbury Sports Village development a new roundabout and improved road surface will be created.
This work is planned to commence on the 19th September 2005 with a target completion time of 5-6 weeks. The Contractor, Bluestone, has planned the developments to ensure a minimum amount of disruption is caused.
A new roundabout will ensure that traffic will flow freely once the Sports Village is open for business. Road surfacing will be improved and anti-skid coating laid down so that the improvements are up to the latest safety standards.
A toucan crossing will be placed on Sundorne Road opposite Ferndale Road. This will help all users and local residents safely cross the road; younger users will particularly benefit.
In addition to SABC's work, Shropshire County Council is also improving areas of Sundorne Road. Roadworks are due to commence on Sundorne Road on 26th September and are expected to take in the region of thirteen weeks.
The work involves resurfacing the main road between Heathgates Roundabout and the pedestrian refuge east of Sundorne Avenue, as well as resurfacing the road and footpaths of the service road between Albert Road and Meadow Farm Drive. Further information will be available when a programme and method of work has been agreed with the County Council's contractor.
