Community Clean Ups

In conjunction with a number of organisations such as the Tidy Shrewsbury Group and Team Litter, Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council facilitates numerous community clear ups each year.

The council has a range of equipment that includes litter grabs, gloves, hi-visibility vests and bags. These items can be loaned out free of charge to organisations or community groups wishing to undertake a tidy up in their local area.

The Council can also assist in removing and disposing the collected litter/rubbish. This service is offered free of charge.

Any group wishing to undertake a clear up in their area should give consideration to a number of points, for instance:

• Who owns the land you wish to clean?
• What age group of people are likely to attend, will they require careful supervision?
• What are the basic health and safety aspects to take account of? For instance is there danger from traffic, water courses or similar?
