Kerbside Box Recycling Scheme

Please note that we previously collected all recycling in a 55 litre green box.  Because paper is heavy we are now asking that residents use the smaller blue box that has recently been delivered to you, for the paper.

The kerbside box scheme collects glass, paper, cans, textiles and household batteries. Households in the scheme catchment area are provided with a green 55ltr plastic box in which to store and place out for collection recyclates.

If you have not received a box please contact the Recycling hotline 01743 281155 or email recycling@shrewsbury.gov.uk and we will deliver one free of charge if you are in the scheme.

PLEASE NOTE - We are planning to extend the recycling scheme to cover 100% of the borough in the future.

How do I use my box?

Simply place you bottles and cans loosely into your green box, or alternatively to make it easier for you can use your old green box for glass, and your new green box for cans.  Please place your paper in the blue box and ensure that paper in your kerbside box is secure and will not blow away, ideally this can be done by placing other materials on top.

Collections:

Place your boxes where you normally put your domestic refuse. Collections are made throughout the day from 8am. If you are unsure of your collection day please use the collection day finder. Please ensure that your box is put out where it is clearly visible for the collection crews. If your box is missed you can notify us using Self Service, or calling 01743 281155.

If you have more materials to recycle than will fit in the box please place these in untied carrier bags and place them either on top or alongside your recycling box. If you frequently cannot fit all the materials in the boxes please ring and let us know and we will issue you with two more (one green and one blue).
