Bulky Household Article (BHA) Collections
The Council will only collect your allocated amount each week which is currently 1 x 240 Litre wheeled bin or 4 x 60 Litre black sacks per fortnight per household (find out more about household refuse).
The Council provides a BHA (Bulky Household Article) collection service for a small charge that may be used for the removal of bulky items such as furniture or old appliances. The standard charge for a collection is £17.50 for the first item; subsequent items are collected at a reduced rate. A discounted rate is available for those of pensionable age or with disabled status.
We also collect DIY waste such as soil and rubble, bathroom suites, kitchen cabinets and the like, but a charge will be levied based on the time and resources required. Please contact the Public Amenities department for advice and we can indicate the cost before you decide to use the service.
To request a collection for bulky items
contact Customer Services on 01743 281000. We can then advise on the charge and whether there are any restrictions on the items you require collecting. Please note that this is a very popular service and a waiting period may apply. The items for collection should be placed outside where the crew can get to them at time of collection - when booking you will be informed whether your collection is am or pm so please bear this in mind. Only items agreed prior to collection will be collected, but you can contact the department to amend you requirements in-between booking a collection and the scheduled collection (restrictions apply). We have an online form for you to request an quote for a BHA collection.
