"As part of a 5 year Football Development Plan, The Shrewsbury Sports Village is fully committed to providing and facilitating a wide range of Football activities. The Shrewsbury Sports Village includes a first class football development centre with a full time Football Co ordinator and coaching staff.  The programme caters for boys and girls and through a partnership approach provides a comprehensive football continuum from grass roots through development to excellence.  There is something for everyone!

Currently the Shrewsbury Sports Village is offering Football in a variety of forms:

Junior Football (Ages 5-16)

Curriculum Release Coaching

The Shrewsbury Sports Village currently provides football coaching for local clubs, primary and secondary schools.  Schools / Clubs can either come to the Sports Village and receive coaching, or our coaches can be deployed at schools to provide curriculum based sessions. All coaches employed at The Shrewsbury Sports Village are qualified to at least a Level 2 standard, and all have up to date 1st Aid qualifications and are CRB checked."

Coaches can be hired at the following costs:

£20 per hour - Coaching out of sports village
£12 per hour - Coaching in the Sports Village

SSCFA Primary School Release Days

These days are an opportunity for local primary schools to send a group of children to the sports village to take part in a football day of fun.  The days run from 9.30am - 14.30pm and at a cost of £5 per child participating.  The coaching days have proved to be very popular with local schools.  For any information, contact Owain Prosser on (01743) 281568.

School Competitions

The Sports Village has proven to be a great home for competitive schools football.  So far, in conjuction with the SSCFA, the village has provided many competions for schools all over the county. 

The Football Development Team are also looking at providing competitive football for schools in the following formats:

Secondary School Reserve Team League
Secondary School SEN "Ability Counts" League

Junior Excel Clubs

As part of the ongoing Sports Excel programme, we are offering a high quality football session for 8 - 14 year olds (boys & girls).  These session runs on a Tuesday, from 4.00 - 5.00pm and cost £2.00(PTL - £1.00) for the hour.

Holiday Courses

Every school holiday period the Sports Village offers holiday courses.  The coaching days run from 10.00am - 16.00pm at a cost of £12 a day (£6 PTL).  These are developmental days aiming to improve player ability.  Players will work on many technical aspects of football, as well as taking part in fun games. 

GK Sessions

We currently have one Goalkeeping session that runs at The Shrewsbury Sports Village.  Shot Stoppers runs on a Thursday from 4.00 - 5.00pm and is run by the Shrewsbury Town Centre of Excellence Gk Coach, Andy Mulliner.  Please ask at reception for additional details.

£1 a Play Sessions

Juniors are welcome to come and use the Sports Village football facilities for £1 each for an hour!  This is dependant on pitch availability and players are required to bring their own football.

Tots Football (Ages 2-5)

Village Tots

The Sports Village provides fun tots football currently running as two 1 hour sessions, from 12.00 - 2.00pm on a Thursday. Each football based session will work on the individuals core abilities such as co-ordination and balance.  These sessions cost £2 only!

Adult Coaching

Shrewsbury Sports Village has a number of Level 3 coaches who are available to coach for local adults Football Clubs.  Coaches will plan structured sessions to try and improve on shortfalls identified in a teams play.  Coaches can be hired at the following costs:

£20 per hour - Coaching out of sports village
£12 per hour (+facility hire) - Coaching in the Sports Village

Adult Competition

Currently there is one evening Football league, and 1 evening Futsal league running out of the sports village.  All leagues are played in a competitive but friendly environment.  Details are below:

Coach Education

The Centre also boasts a fully equipped coach education suite for training and seminars.  In conjuction with The Shropshire F.A the village provides continuous coach development, running courses such as F.A Level 1s, Level 2s and Treatment & Management of Injury.
