Skateboard and BMX Park

The Monkmoor Skateboard and BMX Park is situated at the Monkmoor Recreation Centre, Race Course Crescent, Shrewsbury, SY2 5AU.

Due to a large investment by Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council the park was totally refurbished.

Shrewsbury Leisure and local councillors have worked very closely with local youths to ensure that the park is designed to the specification of all users.

Due to vandalism one of the major ramps of the previous park was damaged by fire and the local youths worked very closely with Shrewsbury Leisure to clear the site and build temporary ramps for use throughout the remainder of the summer of 2003.

Work on the groundwork's for the new park began mid November 2003 and were completed in December.

The ramps began construction in January and with expected interuptions for the weather the park was officially opened on 03 April 2004. However, the ramps will be maintained by the contractors (COnsus International) throughout its use. This is the first park built by the company and any teething problems will be ironed out through weekly inspections.

The park is dedicated to the memory of the late Kenneth Easom who worked tirelessly to build and maintain the original park.
