Parish of Montford
Montford is located in the Borough of Shrewsbury and Atcham in the County of Shropshire.
Situated in the north west of the Borough, the southern boundary of the Parish is formed by the River Severn. There are four main settlements in the parish and a Military Training Area.
Montford Bridge has developed as two parts with the southern part in Bicton parish and the half north of the river in Montford parish. The A5 by-pass has removed a considerable amount of traffic from the village. There is a small range of services which include a shop with post office, village hall and public house.
Montford is a small isolated settlement approached by narrow lanes one and a half kms south-west of Montford Bridge. There are two large farms, a cluster of dwellings and a church, but no other community facilities.
Shrawardine is a small isolated village on the eastern banks of the river Severn. There are a wide range of dwelling types ranging from timber framed thatched cottages to modern dwellings. A development of eight "affordable" dwellings have been constructed east of Shrawadrine Farm. The village has no community facilities.
Ensdon is a small settlement set in open countryside and split by the A5. Ensdon Bower Farm and a few dwellings are situated on the west and Ensdon House to the east.
