Parish of Minsterley

Minsterley is set amongst the hills of the gently undulating Welsh borderland. The village's character is one of contrasts - between the modern creamery which dominates the approach from Shrewsbury, to the historic village square, bounded by a number of listed buildings and an attractive brook.

The village has a number of local shopping facilities and a well supported primary school. The nearby settlement of Pontesbury provides a secondary school, a library, restaurants, etc. Minsterley provides services for the outlying smaller villages and hamlets in the Shropshire hills and along the Welsh/English border.

Minsterley provides essential employment for a wide area. The village and Parish Council take a positive approach to employment generation developments. It is generally felt that there are enough housing development allocations to meet demand for the foreseeable future. Other concerns are the threats to rural services, the lack of children's play facilities and the poor public transport links with Shrewsbury.
