Parish of Cound
Whilst occupying a relatively large area in the central south-east of the Borough the parish has four very small communities. Coundarbour, Cound and Upper Cound all lie closely together, with Coundmoor set some 3kms further south.
Coundarbour is a dispersed group of dwellings located just off the A458. The Cound Trout Fishery occupies an old sand and gravel works alongside the road. Upper Cound is a more compact group of dwellings and farms. Three new dwellings have been built opposite Cound Farm on a previously allocated housing site and there are plans for residential conversions for adjacent farm buildings. Cound is a very small collection of dwellings and farms. There is St Peter's church in the grounds of Cound Hall, a fine Grade I listed manor house. The northern half of Cound with the church and Hall are within the Area of Special Landscape Character (no longer a local plan designation). Coundmoor is a linear collection of dwellings and bungalows on the back road to Harnage Grange and Acton Burnell.
