Parish of Condover

Condover parish has a comparatively large and predominantly rural area. Of the principal settlements, Ryton and Stapleton are both small villages which should remain as they are. Condover is much larger village, part of it centred around the historic Parish church and Condover Hall and is a designated Conservation Area. Yew hedges and sandstone walls are a feature of the village.

The other large village in the Parish is Dorrington, which is cut in two by the A49 trunk road. The road is difficult to cross, footways on either side are narrow and it is an unsettling environment for those on foot. Lack of designated car park in the village is also a problem resulting in inconsiderate parking in narrow streets. The Parish Council believes that Dorrington should not be expanded until a by-pass is provided.

The Parish has two industrial estates and there are two sand and gravel quarries and a projected re-cycling plant. Villagers and the Parish Council are agreed that there should be no increase in the volume of heavy traffic in the Parish. They would regret the loss of such village services as the post office, shops, primary school and regular services.
