Parish of Atcham
The Parish is situated to the south east of Shrewsbury with the River Severn bisecting the Parish. Attingham Park and its extensive grounds, which are a designated Historic park by the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England (English Heritage), lie north of Atcham.
The village of Atcham is situated six kms east of Shrewsbury on the B4380, which was previously the A5 Trunk road until the Shrewsbury by-pass and M54 extension were built. Traffic through the village has been reduced as a result, although the junction of the main village road onto the old A5 remains unsatisfactory.
The old and the new bridges form an important and well known feature of the Borough. Atcham has a post office in the garage, the "Mytton and Mermaid" hotel, bowling green and church. The church green forms an important open space in the centre of the village.
