Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council is co-ordinating an exhibition in the Darwin Shopping Centre from 10:30 to 15:30 on Friday 25th April. There will be waste minimisation displays in the lower level of the shopping centre (at the bottom of TK Maxx) as part of ongoing efforts to promote more sustainable waste management in the Borough and also to mark Real Nappy Week 2008.
SABC will be working in partnership with a number of organisations and exhibiting recycling information alongside the Waste & Resource Action Programme, the Shropshire Master Composters, Shropshire Wildlife Trust and the Shropshire Real Nappy Network.
There will be an opportunity for shoppers to see and feel real washable nappies and view exhibits and speak to expert to learn about these and other ways that they can cut down on our waste mountain by reducing, reusing and recycling instead.
Its estimated that about 3% or more than 1000 tonnes per annum of the refuse that is currently collected by Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council and landfilled is disposable nappies. So buy using washable, “real” nappies people can help to reduce this figure and play a part in protecting our environment.
