Successful Flyposting Prosecution

Leisure Leagues (Midlands) Limited, a Coventry based company have appeared before Shrewsbury Magistrates for the second time in under two years, charged with displaying an advertisement without consent, contrary to section 224 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.

On 26th October 2007, Town Warden Ken Fletcher discovered a large PVC banner attached to railings in Old Potts Way advertising the company's business. Mr Fletcher said "I realised that this company have previously ignored our warnings and advice, and have already been prosecuted for a recurrent offence. Flyposting, in all its forms, cannot be tolerated."

Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council solicitor, John Hosker, led the successful prosecution, where the company pleaded guilty and were fined £550 and ordered to pay Council costs of £450.
