To coincide with the No Smoking Day on Wednesday 12th March, pupils in the Borough were asked to get creative and design an Anti-Smoking poster to get across the message that smoking is a serious health risk.
Primary School pupils have been busy creating their Anti-Smoking posters and have learnt a lot in the process. The posters are colourful, informative and ambitious.
The Mayor presented 1st Place winner, Adam Davies, with his prize of a Quad Trekking Adventure and his 1st Place certificate on Monday 10th March at Crowmoor Primary School in a school assembly.
Kristina Pennington, SABC Smoke Free Officer commented:
“We are very pleased with the response. The message that smoking is a severe health risk was taken onboard by the children, and will be passed on to parents and adults. A big thank you to everyone that has entered or helped the competition, and we hope more children have been made aware of the dangers of smoking!”
A few of the best posters will be displayed on a No Smoking Day goodie and information stall on the 12th March in Darwin Shopping Centre.
