Sean McCarthy said “I was very impressed by the standard of play throughout the whole day, all the participants who took part did their district proud. I was extremely pleased with the standard of play from the table tennis team, which enabled them to win the event, but more importunately all the children that competed on the day did their best and enjoyed the day. I would like to say a big thankyou to the people that came on the day to help out with the various teams and to those that helped in selecting teams prior to the games, without your help and assistance these type of events would not be possible”.

Teams were selected by a variety of methods such as, coaching from Shrewsbury Leisure staff, school festivals, activities organised by the Shrewsbury School Sports Partnership and current after school coaching programmes. The preparation prior to the youth games meant that nearly 200 children benefited from the Youth Games in some way.
