Shrewsbury Community Sports Network is holding a family fun day on Sunday 16th March at The Shrewsbury Sports Village between 10am – 4pm. All of the activities that are on offer during the day are free of charge, you may also be able to take part in an activity of your choice, providing the sports village can accommodate it.
To take part in this event you can book a time and activity that suits you or your family simply by phoning 01743 281550 or just turn up on the day, bookings will be taken on a first come first served basis. Activities on offer include climbing /bouldering, squash, badminton, table tennis, tennis, trampolining, aerobics, circuits and many more.
As well as the family fun day we are also organising a Sport Relief Mile on the same day there are three start times for this event 10am, 12pm or 2pm, you can do 1, 3 or 6 miles at a time of your choice. The cost to enter the sport relief event is £5 per adult, £2 per child or £12 (family 2 adults and 2 children), all monies donated will go to sport relief, entry can be done on the day or in advance by filling in an application form or registering online at www.sportrelief.com

The Shrewsbury Community Sports Network is open to anyone – sporting or non-sporting - who have a shared interest to develop and promote sport and physical activity in Shrewsbury. A typical Community Sport Network may include representatives from the local authority, private sector businesses, health organisations, community safety groups, schools, sport clubs, sports centres, volunteer networks and wider community groups such as disability groups. The role of the network is to:
- Identify local needs, priorities and intervention
- Secure resources to deliver the identified interventions and outcomes
- Increase participation in sport and active recreation by 1% year on year
- Widen access to opportunities for sport and active recreation
- Develop a locally shared vision with buy in from key partners
- Align partners’ existing priorities and targets with one joined up local action
- Create links and develop plans in line with Local Strategic Partnerships, Local Area Agreements and the County Sports Partnership
