Following the consultation with stakeholders and river interests, Pleydell Smithyman have completed their final report for Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council on how the river might be improved in future years. The final report, Action Plan and results of the consultation will be reported to the Council’s cabinet on January 28th 2008 along with proposals from the Destination Shrewsbury Manager on how the recommendations might be taken forward. The Pleydell Smithyman report has been reviewed independently for national magazine ‘Regeneration and Renewal’ by the Head of Regeneration at Lambert Smith Hampton who concluded that “it provides a good springboard for the strategic development of this precious setting and puts into place a sensible structure to manage and monitor its delivery” Commented David Griffiths, Destination Shrewsbury Manager “This report is a starting point for looking at initiatives which can help improve the Shrewsbury river corridor over the next few years and processes which will hopefully lead to a wider and positive involvement of river users” The final report , Action Plan , consultation summary and Council report will be available on the Council’s website www.shrewsbury.gov.uk from January 18th with a hard copy for viewing at the Guildhall reception.
