Revision To Existing Planning Application 07/1753/F Re-College Co-Location

Release Date: 01/04/2008

Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council Planning department is issuing the following information as part of the statutory consultation process.

The applicants are now proposing floodlighting of the all weather pitch, have amended the position of the proposed northern site access (it is now positioned slightly further south, nearly opposite the Ebnal Road junction) and are proposing a mini-roundabout on London Road outside the existing southern access road into the site (opposite New College Road). In addition the proposed flow of traffic through the site is now proposed to be via the entrance at the southern end and exit at the northern end (i.e. anti-clockwise), as opposed to the clockwise circulation of traffic previously proposed. The amended proposals are also covered in the revised Design and Access Statement submitted with the application.

The submitted plans also show potential closure of the eastern ends of Ebnal Road and New College Road as a traffic management measure, although this would be the subject of further public consultation if the Co-location project goes ahead. The Colleges are proposing to provide this and other traffic calming and enhancing measures via a Section 106 Planning Agreement. This would include residents’ parking scheme. The applicants are offering a contribution of £50,000 for the road closure scheme and £50,000 for the residents parking scheme. However, public consultation on these measures will take place if the application receives planning permission and other options could also be considered.

If you have any comments on these amendments to the application, please let me have these in writing within 14 days of the date of this letter. Revised plans and documents are available to view at the Council’s offices or on the Council’s website.
