Four candidates have decided to stand for possible election as a Borough Councillor in the Pimhill Ward of Shrewsbury. The local electorate will have the chance to vote on Thursday 28th August between the hours of 7am and 10pm and it is hoped that the result will be announced shortly before midnight.
Polling stations for this election will be located at The Wale Room, Shrewsbury Road, Bomere Heath and Fitz Village Hall. Poll cards explaining which polling station voters should use will be issued later this week.
The Electoral Officers at Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council would like to remind people who have recently moved into the area that they still have until Tuesday 12th August to register to vote in this election, if they have not already done so.
Tuesday 12th August is also the deadline for written applications for a postal vote, with the closing date for proxy votes being at 5pm on Tuesday 19th August. As the poll is taking place during the August Bank Holiday, there is a chance that some local people may be taking a last-minute holiday. Electoral Staff are therefore asking voters to check their diaries and get in touch with them at the Guildhall as soon as possible, to arrange a postal or proxy vote.
