To coincide with the No Smoking Day on Wednesday 12th March, pupils in the Borough were asked to get creative and design an Anti-Smoking poster to get across the message that smoking is a serious health risk.
On Monday 3rd March the Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor John Cooke, chose the winning posters!
1st Place - Adam Davies, from Crowmoor Primary School
2nd Place - Flo Mitford, from Adcote School for Girls
3rd Place - Lottie Mapp, from Adcote School for Girls
The 1st Place winner, Adam Davies, will be presented with his prize of a Quad Trekking Adventure and his 1st Place certificate on Monday 10th March by the Mayor at Crowmoor Primary School. Photos of the event will be on the Health Promotion, Smoking section of Shrewsbury Council's website.
The 2nd and 3rd winners, Flo Mitford and Lottie Mapp, will have their prizes and certificates sent to them. The Wall Climbing Experience was generously donated by the Shrewsbury Sports Village, and the Family Swim pass was gratefully donated by The Quarry Swimming and Fitness Centre.
A big thank you to everyone that has entered or helped the competition, and we hope more children have been made aware of the dangers of smoking! A few of the best posters will be on our No Smoking Day goodie and information stall on the 12th March in Darwin Shopping Centre, and then returned to the schools.
