As the cost of energy continues to cause problems for our residents, SABC have congratulated the affordable warmth initiative “Keep Shropshire Warm” as they announced that it has already helped over 2500 households since its launch in November 2007, providing over 1700 vulnerable households with insulation / heating measures.
Ofgem have this week proposed to improve the access to social tariffs for vulnerable households, enabling them to pay less for their energy, yet this is not likely to be launched for some time as it requires new legislation to be passed in the House of Commons.
In the interim though households can still get access to grants to help reduce their energy bills through The Keep Shropshire Warm team. Further their new website www.keepshropshirewarm.org also shows residents where to get the cheapest energy deals.
Cllr Mrs Judith Williams, Portfolio Holder for Sustainability states;
“The KSW project has done a magnificent job helping a large amount of people already but we don’t want to stop there. Through this project we offer guidance on the cheapest tariffs and we still offer FREE Insulation for over 70’s and benefit recipients! Utilising the cheapest tariffs and ensuring your homes is as efficient as possible can save you hundreds of pounds each year”
Keep Shropshire Warm also offers large discounts for all other households including cavity wall insulation from only £149 and Loft Insulation from £169.
