Green Flag Award Ceremony

Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council was awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award for the Quarry at a ceremony held at Liverpool Convention Centre on the 24th July 2008.  The award is recognition that the Quarry has achieved the required standard for:

• A welcoming place;
• Healthy, safe and secure;
• Clean and well maintained;
• Sustainability;
• Conservation Heritage;
• Community involvement;
• Management and Marketing.

The award also enables the new town council to try for a Green Heritage Award if they decide to enter this competition during 2009.

Shrewsbury in Bloom Chairman Cllr Jackie Brennand said that she was delighted to receive the award on behalf of the Borough Council and paid tribute to the hard working staff who made the facility safe, clean and beautiful to visit.
