Bayston Hill Primary School Poll
Release Date:
02/04/2008
Twenty-five parishioners from Bayston Hill met on the 26th of March to discuss the proposed merger of the two primary schools located in the village. As a result of the meeting, a Parish Poll was demanded to check that the opinions expressed were that of the majority of the electors of the Parish. A Parish Poll will therefore be held on Thursday, the 24th of April, when the following questions will be put:
- Is the parish of Bayston Hill large enough to sustain two primary schools?
- Do the people of Bayston Hill wish for the proposed amalgamation of Oakland and Longmeadow Primary Schools to proceed?
Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council will undertake the Poll, which will be conducted in much the same way as a local council election. There are two main differences; the Polling Stations, located at the Memorial Hall and the Methodist Church in Bayston Hill, will just be open between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. and, as voting by post or proxy is not permitted in polls, only voting in person will be allowed. Further information on this poll is available from Karen Smith of the Electoral Services Section of Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council on Shrewsbury 281019.
