An Opportunity To Get Close To Nature

Release Date: 19/05/2008

An Early Morning Bird Song Walk is taking place at Earl's Hill Nature Reserve (owned by Shropshire Wildlife Trust), starting at 05.30 on Saturday 24th May and rounding off with an optional English Breakfast at the Horseshoes in Pontesbury at 08.30.

The event is free thanks to sponsorship by Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council’s Sustainability Section but if you want the optional breakfast it will cost £6.

Meet at Rea Valley Tractors on the A488 at Pontesford (SJ409064) for 05:30.

The walk offers an opportunity to hear and learn the songs and calls of birds of woodland and scrub - up to 35 species if the weather is good.  Besides resident birds such as Wren, Robin, Song Thrush and Chaffinch we should hear (and possibly also see) migrants here for the summer from Africa including Blackcap and Garden Warbler, Chiffchaff and rarer ones like Pied Flycatcher and Redstart.

Booking are essential to the walk leader, John Tucker on 07791 657 216 or via www.lanius.org.uk giving your contact number and requirements for breakfast or not.
