Advice Services Available To Help Reduce Bills

Release Date: 23/05/2008

With the ever-increasing cost of living, SABC is responding by supporting the Energy Efficiency Advice Centre to deliver advice ‘clinics’ in the town all month.  Residents can have queries answered face-to-face about anything from switching to a cheaper electricity company, to accessing grants through schemes like Keep Shropshire Warm, to programmer your boiler controls or even installing solar panels.  They will also be giving away free low energy lightbulbs, which will help residents to make a major reduction in their electricity bills.  Advice will be available at;

  • Thurs 5th June – World Environment Day - The Town Square
  • Sat 7th June – Bike Festival - Sundorne Sports Village
  • Sat 14th June – Shrewsbury Carnival - Quarry Park
  • Sat 21st & Sun 22nd June – West Mid Show - the Showground
  • Sat 28th June – Teenage Kicks Youth Festival  - Quarry Park
  • Sat 5th July – Shrewsbury Green Fayre – Wildlife Trust HQ

Cllr. Mrs. Judith Williams, Portfolio Holder for Sustainability says

“ We are really concerned about vulnerable people especially in these times of rising living costs.  We hope that helping them lower their energy bills can help make life more affordable.  If you want to talk to someone there is also a dedicated freephone Energy Advice helpline 0800 512012 and a website www.keepshropshirewarm.org with advice on it, or you can email queries to advice@eec.org.uk and quote Keep Shropshire Warm”
