How does this affect blue badge holders?

If you are a Blue Badge holder (disabled badge holder) you should still park in accordance with the guidance booklet issued with your badge.

Blue Badges are issued to either a disabled driver or a disabled passenger.  They can only be used when the vehicle is being used to transport the disabled person. It is not permitted to use the badge for any other purpose e.g. shopping for the disabled person when they, themselves, are not being transported in the vehicle.

Please ensure that the badge and clock are displayed correctly wherever the vehicle is parked and remember that there are now new rules on the inspection of blue badges by Civil Enforcement Officers (Parking) to prevent misuse.

Please also check and abide by the signs in car parks. Not all car parks are free to holders of Blue Badges. Each District/Borough Council website will give information on concessions to Blue Badge holders.

Throughout Shropshire Blue Badge holders may park on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours, providing the vehicle does not cause an obstruction to other traffic or pedestrians and providing there is no ban on loading or unloading.

More information on the Blue Badge Scheme is available on  the Department for Transport and Shropshire County Council sites.
