Notifying the Council

After you have moved, there are a number of departments within the council that you should notify.  You can notify all departments at once using our online Change of Address form.

When completing the form, a number of departments will be notified automatically, such as Council Tax and Electoral Services, but you can also select from a number of optional departments such as Benefits, Licensing, and many others.

If you are contacting departments individually by phone or letter, please ensure that you contact the follow departments where relevant;

Council Tax

When you move, you should notify the Council Tax department of your change of address.  We will send you a bill a few days after you have informed us of your new details.  Please see our Council Tax section for contact details and more information.

Electoral Services

You must inform the Electoral Services Office of your change of address to ensure you are able to vote at elections.  You can find more information and contact details for the Electoral Services Office in our Registering to Vote section.
You can also find more information on the Electoral Commission website, or on the aboutmyvote website.

Benefits

If you are in receipt of Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit, you need to notify the Benefits department within the council of your change of address.  Please see our Benefits section for contact details and more information.
