Emstrey Crematorium London Road, Shrewsbury

The Crematorium was first opened in 1958, since when over 75,000 cremations have been carried out. The Borough Council is proud of the standards which are maintained and cremation is now chosen by over 72% of the population in the Shrewsbury area in preference to burial. The Crematorium serves a very wide area, including most of Shropshire, Powys and other parts of Wales.

It cannot be too strongly emphasised that every reverence, dignity and respect is maintained in the process of cremation. A Code of Cremation Practice has been laid down by the Federation of British Cremation Authorities in order to ensure the highest standard of management, staffing and procedure. The Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council holds corporate membership of the Federation and strictly adheres to the Code of Practice at its Crematorium.

The Garden of Remembrance and Chapel of Remembrance are open daily throughout the year, providing visitors with a beautiful and tranquil setting for contemplation and remembrance.

Saturday & Sunday: 10.00 a.m. - 7.00 p.m.

16th October to 31st March
Monday - Friday: 8.30 a.m. - 5.00 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday: 10.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m.
