Waste not, want not - recycling scheme to help householders
A town allotments society has received 15 compost bins as part of a borough council run scheme to encourage people to find alternative ways of dealing with waste.
Column Allotments Society received the ten large and five small bins from Susanna Hinton, recycling research assistant at Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council.
The presentation was part of a promotion of the boroughs subsidised home composting bin scheme.

The bins are available for £6 and are purpose made from recycled plastic. Information on purchase of bins.
The borough is running the scheme after being selected by the government quango, the water resources action programme, to act as the pilot area for Britain for the scheme, which is available to residents throughout the county.
Val Oldaker, secretary of the allotments society, said the group would hold a free draw to give the bins to society members.
"I have already got seven compost bins", she said. "You can never have enough in my view".
James Thompson, Sustainable Development Officer for the Borough Council says: "what we want to achieve is to get residents to look again at how they deal with this type of waste and see it not as waste at all but as a valuable resource that they can put to good use around their garden."
