The Shrewsbury Green Guide started out as a hand written Recycling Guide distributed by the local Friends of the Earth (FoE) group in Shrewsbury.  Since then, it has evolved into a productive partnership between Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council and the Shrewsbury FoE, the result of which is the series of funky new-look colourful glossy Green Guides currently in circulation.  You can download the latest green guide from the Shrewsbury Friends of the Earth Website

The guide in it's earliest format was written by a number of different people, pooling their knowledge into a helpful and informative resource for local people.  Of recent, this has been reviewed and updated mainly by Judy Coleridge from the local FoE group, with the support of the Marches Energy Agency, and staff from the Borough and County Council.  The money for the guide is provided by the National Lotterys Award for All programme, with a little support from the Borough Council, and in the past with some assistance from outside agencies including Government Office West Midlands and Severn Trent Water in previous years.

 

The shelf-life of the guide is intended to be between 1-2 years, and people are encouraged to pass their old versions on to others, as most of the information is still correct and can still be used.  The guide has always been produced on recycled paper.  However this years version is especially 'green', with non polluting inks, local designers and printers who are ISO 14001 acredited for their environmental management systems.

 

The illustration, design, and print work was managed by local award winning design agency Adam Contstantine Ltd, who specialise in ethical and green graphic design work from their Carbon - neutral offices in Shrewsbury.
