Smokefree - Resources

The following information includes Government designed smokefree policy, guidance, leaflets and free signage.  Also, helpful links to other smokefree websites. Click for information on Smoking Litter.

Smokefree Leaflets

In addition, the government has produced leaflets to explain what the law means to businesses and how to prepare for the new law, and also created an information leaflet to explain how the new smokefree law will affect individuals. You may want to share these with your staff, customers and visitors.

Smokefree Policy

Click here for the policy which has been developed by the Department of Health to protect all employees, service users, customers and visitors from exposure to secondhand smoke and to assist compliance with the Health Act 2006.
Exposure to secondhand smoke increases the risk of lung cancer, heart disease and other serious illnesses.  Ventilation or separating smokers and non-smokers within the same airspace does not completely stop potentially dangerous exposure.

Smokefree Guidance

Click here for the official 'Everything you need' guide to the new smokefree law. This is the official Government guidance and explains everything businesses and organisations need to do to comply with the new smokefree law.

Smokefree Signage

All smokefree premises and vehicles will need to display no-smoking signs that meet the requirements of the law.  No-smoking signs will make it clear which premises and vehicles are smokefree and demonstrate that you are taking the necessary steps to meet the requirements of the new smokefree law.  Click here to download and print compliant no-smoking signs.
The international no-smoking symbol in both signs must be at least 70mm in diameter.  This symbol consists solely of a graphic representation of a single burning cigarette enclosed in a red circle with a red bar across it.
