Community Safety and CCTV
Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council is a leading member of the Shrewsbury and Atcham Community Safety Partnership.
Established in 1998 under the Crime and Disorder Act the Community Safety Partnership is tasked with
"working together to make Shrewsbury and Atcham a safer place to live, work and visit"
The partnership has a membership of over 20 organisations including West Mercia Police, Shropshire County Council and Shropshire Fire and Rescue.
The partnership uses crime data and residents concerns to develop action plans and initiatives to tackle crime and disorder in Shrewsbury and Atcham and to reduce the fear of crime.

One of the main tools in the fight against crime is the Shrewsbury Town Centre CCTV. A network of 27 colour, fully controllable cameras monitor public areas in Shrewsbury 24 hours a day, every day. With direct links to the Police and Town Centre Security Staff. CCTV operatives have been instrumental in helping reduce crime in Shrewsbury Town Centre.
