A Central Location with Excellent Communications
Whilst businesses rely upon the expertise of their management and workforce, they also need a location which gives them key access to key markets and suppliers. Shrewsbury's central location in the UK is a major benefit to those wishing to relocate to the area.
Road Communications
Most of the UK can be reached within 4 hours HGV drive time making Shrewsbury a prime business location in terms of cost efficiency. The M54 and A5 are part of the proposed Trans European Highway which crosses the country between Felixstowe and Holyhead. Shrewsbury is the hub of Shropshire's transport network and is well served by regular bus routes to all parts of the county.
Rail Services
Shrewsbury has services to London via Wolverhampton or Birmingham. A new direct service to the capital is due to start running in spring 2008, please see www.wrexhamandshropshire.co.uk for more information.
There are direct commuter services to Birmingham Central and International, Chester, Crewe, Mid-Wales and Cardiff. There are connections to the North via Crewe and the South/South West via Bristol.
The provision of high speed links from the West Midlands to the Channel Tunnel in future will bring Shrewsbury closer to Europe, opening up a wealth of business opportunities for new and established Shrewsbury companies alike.
Airports
Birmingham International Airport is 75 minutes drive away. The Airport's Eurohub facility offers scheduled flights to the USA and a variety of internal connections to the rest of the UK.
Manchester International Airport is 90 minutes drive away and provides flights to some 43 European cities along with direct flights to the USA and Far East.
Ports
Shrewsbury's central location with ready access to the motorway and rail networks means that major seaports such as Liverpool, Hull, Harwich and Felixstowe are within easy reach. The port of Liverpool is only 75 minutes away and provides a gateway to North American markets.
