Funding Opportunities
There currently exist four major sources of capital funding. They are:
- SABC and its capital programme
- Advantage West Midlands
- Heritage Lottery Fund
- English Heritage
1. SABC Capital Programme
There currently exist in Capital Programme the following:
| Entertainment Centre | £15,000,000 |
| Museum/TIC/Toilets | £1,200,000 |
| total | £16,200,000 |
The above funding is somewhat dependent on the release of the current Livestock Market and the Tesco agreement.
There remain in capital budget some uncommitted monies which could 'top up' the above.
2. Advantage West Midlands
The indications are that AWM are anxious for Shrewsbury to develop a corporate strategic policy for the development of Shrewsbury. Such an approach should maximise any funding.
3. Heritage Lottery Fund
HLF has also indicated that it would support a strategic approach to the development of Shrewsbury in financial terms. Both HLF and AWM are awaiting a Council commitment to such an approach.
4. English Heritage
English Heritage have maintained support for the conservation of the town's built heritage through the Heritage Economic Regeneration Schemes.
Others
The input of Dunedin (if any) could be very significant, particularly in revenue terms.
Other smaller sources of grant can also be levered in for specific projects, eg bus station, theatre equipment etc. Some revenue funding might also be available for specific revenue projects associated with the physical development of facilities. This aspect will need to be refined if Dunedin is involved in the project. Similarly other capital monies could be secured via the Music Hall, dependent on the direction the Council takes.
