Housing Strategy
The Borough Council has produced a new three year Housing Strategy running from 2006 to 2009.
The strategy examines the issues affecting housing across all tenures in Shrewsbury and Atcham and sets out what the Borough Council and it's partners will be doing over the next three years towards providing suitable and sustainable housing "pathways of choice" for residents of the Borough.
Issues that are particularly addressed in the new strategy are
- Increased focus on regional and sub-regional partnership working.
- Increasing the supply of affordable housing for local people.
- Preventing homelessness and providing housing options.
- Investing in private sector renewal and reducing empty properties.
- Meeting the housing adaptation and support needs of vulnerable people.
- Energy conservation and environmental sustainability.
Our strategy has been accredited by the Government Office for the West Midlands as being "Fit For Purpose".
