More Than Just Summer

The Britain in Bloom competition recognises far more than just floral embellishment during the summer months. Throughout the seasons you can see the results of hard work carried out year round - from beautiful spring bulbs, autumn tints on the trees, and berries, foliage, and shrubs glistening in the winter snow. Planting is carefully thought out to complement the architectural features that Shrewsbury is so proud of.

Improving the quality of open spaces and places of recreation such as the Quarry is another important aspect of the Council's work and the Bloom competition. The Council is committed to a rolling programme of improvements through the Community Initiatives Capital Fund, identifying the need for improved play facilities covering multi sports schemes and BMX tracks throughout the borough.
