BYELAWS WITH RESPECT TO REMOVAL OF HOUSE REFUSE
Made under Section 72(3) of the Public Health Act 1935 by the
Mayor Aldermen and Burgesses of the Borough of Shrewsbury acting by the Council of the Borough of Shrewsbury with respect to
REMOVAL OF HOUSE REFUSE
1. In these byelaws "the Council" means The Mayor Aldermen and Burgesses of the Borough of Shrewsbury acting by the Council of the Borough of Shrewsbury; "dustbin" means a movable receptacle for the deposit of ashes or refuse.
2. The occupier of premises from which the Council have undertaken to remove house refuse shall so far as is practicable place any house refuse intended for removal by the Council in a dustbin, and where the Council have themselves provided a dustbin that dustbin only shall be used.
3. Where the Council serve on the occupier of such premises a notice specifying the times at which the Council propose to remove house refuse therefrom, the occupier shall, by every such time, place any dustbin containing house refuse intended for removal by the Council at a point on the premises:-
(a) which can be conveniently reached from a street used as a means of access for the removal of house refuse; and
(b) from which refuse can be removed without being taken through a dwelling house
Provided that requirement (b) shall not apply in cases where there is no alternative access.
4. No liquid matter or refuse in such a state as to be liable to cause combustion shall be deposited in any dustbin used for house refuse intended form removal by the Council.
5. No person shall remove any matter which the Council have undertaken to remove, not being matter produced on his own premises which he intends to remove for sale or for his own use, and which is kept in the meantime so as not to be a nuisance.
6. Any person who offends against any of the provisions of these byelaws shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding twenty pounds.
