Previous Webcam Locations
This was our first webcam, it was located at our old Guildhall offices in Dogpole, looking out onto the River Severn and the English Bridge. Map of this location. We have moved to new offices in Frankwell - the camera is now located there - and can be viewed using the link above.
In the winter this camera was well used by locals as it let us keep our eye on the river level which has flooded several times in the last few years. The flood level has peaked at around 6m - which is about 2 ft below the top of the bridge arch!
This webcam was declared 'webcam of the day' by Steve Wright on BBC Radio 2 on 9th May 2003.
Frankwell Quay - Office Construction
The second camera was in a building adjacent to the construction site of our new office building in Frankwell. The offices were completed in February 2004. For anyone familiar with Shrewsbury, this is the site of the former Atlas Foundry, next to the river Severn. Map
As the construction progressed the view of the camera was obscured and we had to move it to another location - this is now the Guildhall and St. Mary's Street Camera mentioned above.
We have presented a small selection of images from the camera during the construction, which you can see be clicking on the 'Frankwell Quay' Link above.
Guildhall and St. Mary's Street
This camera was situated in our offices at 19 Dogpole, it showed the Guildhall with the flagpole and flower beds in front.
