AQAP PREFERENCES

In 2005 consultations were undertaken on the Air Quality Action Plan to assess public reaction ot the measures therein.

SCHOOLS WORK

In 2004 children from schools near to the AQMAs were also asked to record their thoughts.

The actions they wanted to see included:

• More cycling and walking.
• Cleaner fuels.
• Banning older vehicles.

PUBLIC CONSULTATION EVENTS

In 2003 public events were held at Bayston Hill Village Hall and in the Town Square in Shrewsbury.

• The most popular option, by a considerable margin, was the "Bayston Hill bypass", with 28% of the total number of agreements.
• The next most popular options, with 13% and 12% respectively, were "Encourage people to walk" and "Provision of greener fuels".
